“My son has multiple life threatening food allergies. Day-to-day meals are hard enough. Navigating parties and get togethers involving food are stressful and anxiety ridden. We always travel with safe food of our own, but that doesn’t mean my son is 100% safe. Even other people’s dirty hands are a risk for us with cross contamination. Many people don’t understand the severity of the allergy and see me as a helicopter parent. All I want is my son to be safe! Please don’t judge me. How would you feel, and what would you do if your child could die from some cheesy greasy fingers, peanut butter schmear, or a minuscule crumb in his food?”
Thanks Cindy Anderson Lopez for sharing your #NoShameParenting story. It’s definitely food for thought.
