“Oh, we don’t play like that.”

“Every time my kid goes to the park and picks up a stick and uses it like a gun or a sword, I’m judged, even though it’s a normal thing. The way people go about it is so passive aggressive. They do this big vocal show: ‘Oh, we don’t play like that.’ It happens less as my sons get older. We also naturally selected like-minded friends who judge us less. I think as our kids get older, parents become less strident than when their kids are 4 or 5. Maybe they’ve accepted their kids are not as impressionable.”

Thanks Brian for sharing your #NoShameParenting story. While we obviously don’t want a kid bringing a real gun to school, is it such a big deal if little kids are playing with sticks around the playground?
