“I own my own business and sometimes I’m busy and sometimes I’m not. It’s inconsistent and I’m judged. But my business doesn’t run itself. I’m trying to do both without success … either your business takes a hit, or your kid takes a hit. I don’t take time for myself. My husband could dick around at work for three weeks and nobody would ask how he spends his day. But people are really curious about how women spend their time. For Father’s Day, men are encouraged to go play golf alone and ditch their families. For Mother’s Day, women are supposed to hang around all day, do the breakfast in bed thing. Sometimes we just need a day off. Finding that elusive balance is annoying. People ask, ‘How do you do it all?’ I do the best I can.”
Thanks @artbymegan for sharing your #noshameparenting story about the whole “having it all” thing. Why do people care so much about how parents spend their time?! 🤔
